Master&Schellhorn

During an historic ceremony on 5th April 2017 at Mercers’ Hall in the City of London, Matthew Schellhorn was clothed with the Livery of the Company by the Clerk, Hugh Lloyd, after which the Master, Alderman Sir Roger Gifford, invested Matthew with the Badge of the Company and extended the customary "right hand of fellowship". Matthew was then formally presented to the
Senior Warden, Lady Brewer OBE, and the Junior Warden, Michael Lewin, and then the remaining members of the Court of Assistants.

With its roots in an ancient mediaeval craft guild in the City of London, the Musicians' Company is the only Livery Company devoted specifically to the performing arts and is committed to rewarding excellence in many areas of music; for example, in composition, singing, instrumental music, jazz, brass bands, popular music and in the Services. Honorary Freemen include HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duchess of Kent, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Dame Cleo Laine, Dame Janet Baker and Dame Gillian Weir.
